When importing students into MobyMax via a spreadsheet, you may occasionally encounter errors that prevent a successful upload. Below is a list of the most common issues along with solutions to quickly resolve them.
Error: The header for column [#] is not the same as the downloaded template. You cannot change the headers of the template.
Cause:
❌ The template headers were altered or the wrong Moby template was used.
❌ Extra text or numbers were added outside the designated columns.
❌ Unnecessary formatting was saved into the spreadsheet.
Solution:
✅ Verify headers—ensure they match the original template exactly.
✅ Check for extra text or numbers outside the required template columns.
✅ Copy and paste the spreadsheet into a fresh Moby template or a Google Sheet to remove excess formatting.
Error: The teacher’s email address in row [#] is not registered in your school/district.
Cause:
❌ The teacher’s email address listed on the spreadsheet is not registered at your school or district.
Solution:
✅ Ensure the teacher’s email is spelled correctly in the spreadsheet.
✅ Register the teacher before importing students.
Error: Row [x] for "username" is duplicated in Row [x].
Cause:
❌ The same username appears twice on the spreadsheet.
❌ An attempt to share a student among multiple teachers resulted in slight variations in the student’s details across different rows.
Solution:
✅ Remove duplicate usernames from the spreadsheet.
✅ If a student is shared among multiple teachers, ensure their details (name, grade level, Student ID, etc.) are exactly the same across all entries.
Error: Row [x] for "username" already has a student registered for “username".
Cause:
❌ The username already exists in the school where the student is being registered.
Solution:
✅ Remove duplicate records from the spreadsheet.
✅ Delete the student from your MobyMax roster (Warning: This will erase the student’s data.)
Error: This Student ID is already registered with "teacher" for “student".
Cause:
❌ The student has already been registered with that username.
Solution:
✅ Remove the duplicate record from the spreadsheet.
✅ Delete the student from your MobyMax roster (Warning: This will erase the student’s data.)
